Walking up the stairs to my room, Vinnie the cat was there, standing on the toilet, staring straight at me.

The room kept shifting, but he didn’t move. I took ten quick shots; he held his pose, calm and sure.

Later that night he curled into my bed, maybe he liked how spontaneous I was.
In the morning he was gone, and he never said a word.
